THE STAR TOUCHED QUEEN.

Cursed with a horoscope that promises a marriage of Death and Destruction, sixteen-year-old Maya has only earned the scorn and fear of her father's kingdom. Content to follow more scholarly pursuits, her world is upheaved when her father, the Raja, arranges a wedding of political convenience to quell outside rebellions. But when her wedding takes a fatal turn, Maya becomes the queen of Akaran and wife of Amar. Yet neither roles are what she expected. As Akaran's queen, she finds her voice and power. As Amar's wife, she finds friendship and warmth. But Akaran has its own secrets - thousands of locked doors, gardens of glass, and a tree that bears memories instead of fruit. Beneath Akaran's magic, Maya begins to suspect her life is in danger. When she ignores Amar's plea for patience, her discoveries put more than new love at risk - it threatens the balance of all realms, human and Otherworldly. Now, Maya must confront a secret that spans reincarnated lives and fight her way through the dangerous underbelly of the Otherworld if she wants to protect the people she loves.

That's one helluva cover, right? And it's a pretty good blurb, too!

Go ahead on over and take a peek at her website, it's just as gorgeous as that cover! And right now, she has a sweet preorder giveaway happening.

And while you're at it, why don't you follow her on Twitter and maybe even add the book on Goodreads.

Roshani has been kind enough to gift us with an exclusive deleted scene from the book!

Read on for the content!

From Roshani:

My favorite part about writing a new project is developing the worldbuilding. I do my best to make sure that it's cohesive, but still enchanting. In Maya and Amar's palace of Akaran, there's a thousand doors that don't always lead where you expect. I had so much fun coming up with what was behind each and every one and why! Unfortunately, when we went through some major revisions, I took out some of those scenes. The scene below is from an early draft of The Star-Touched Queen, when it was written in 3rd person, had a lot more extra characters and a lot more doors. Hope you enjoy!

Deleted Scene:

Shelves overflowing with strange items plastered the room.  Sometimes she caught sight of familiar objects — a porcelain horse, a clew of thread, a broken drum.  But the other items on the shelves had no names.  Some objects disappeared as readily as they appeared, while others had a thick coat of dust over them.

“What is this place?” she asked.

“The Lost Room.”

 “A strange name.”

“A fitting name,” said Amar.  “Lost things find their way to this room.  But they don’t always stay lost.  If they’re found again, they leave.  Most of the time they stay.”

Maya moved around the shelves.  Time had no dominion in this cylindrical room, which made it the perfect hiding place.  She searched the corners, expecting something familiar to catch her eye, but there was nothing.

“Have you ever found something you wanted to keep for yourself?”

“Sometimes,” said Amar.  “There was a kitten that was in here for a couple hours once.  It was a funny thing, a tuft of orange, completely delighted with the room, but it was rediscovered and vanished as quickly as it appeared.”

Maya wrinkled her nose.  “I detest cats.”

"Why? They’re smart, resourceful.  And funny.”

 “Too fickle.”

 “What animals do you like?”

Maya was silent, lost momentarily in memories of Vali.  “Monkeys.”

 "They steal your things.”

But they give you shatranj lessons, the first pick of mangoes, and their affection, Maya wanted to say, but she bit her tongue.

“I hope you won’t mind if we eat outside the dining room this evening,” said Amar.

Despite herself, her anger had begun to fade. Where suspicion had flared in her mind, softness replaced it. More than anything, she wanted to believe she was wrong, that her paranoia had fed into a web of false suspicion. She wanted to believe that he wanted her just the way she was, with no ulterior motives other than the desire to hold her close at night.

I hope you've enjoyed the deleted scene  from STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN!!
